As part of our commitment to promoting the wellbeing of our homeless and disadvantaged friends, we seize every opportunity to celebrate their special moments with them out there on the streets.
In the last two months we have had the pleasure of marking the birthdays of three of our service users at the outdoor soup kitchen at Charing Cross.
One of the celebrants was David (photo not supplied) who has been homeless for over 20 years. Since his first visit to our soup kitchen in 2020, he has remained connected to our service as an occasional user. During one of our corporate events, we were belatedly informed that it was his special day. Despite the last minute notice, volunteers swung into action and managed to prepare a bag of yummilicious gifts for him. We gave him special service at the soup kitchen and took a few minutes to sing him a birthday song.
We also celebrated with Maggie who has been using the soup kitchen for about three years. Having also volunteered with us, she has become more like a close family member. We bought her some lovely gifts and members of our team did their best to make the day memorable for Maggie.
