Haworth Tompkins describes the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain as 'the world's biggest producing theatre'. You can, therefore, imagine our excitement when we received a message from the National Theatre (NT) indicating their interest in donating a substantial amount of utensils and other materials to Refuge Network UK in support of our cause.
Last week, some members of our team collected the brand new items from the London Southbank premises of the NT. It was a huge consignment of over 100 boxes! This is a great morale booster especially as our crowdfunding campaign failed to generate momentum.
Refuge Network UK is a community nonprofit working to alleviate poverty. We support struggling individuals, rough sleepers and homeless people with food parcels and essentials. We run soup kitchens in London and operate several outreach programmes providing survival packs in various locations, including Wandsworth, Southwark, Lambeth, Camden, and Westminster. Since the start of the pandemic, we have distributed thousands of meals and basic items within the UK and abroad.
This donation will significantly enhance our capacity to support the impoverished communities we serve as we continue to deliver vital poverty alleviation assistance to disadvantaged and marginalised service users in these difficult times.
We are grateful to the entire team at the National Theatre for their benevolent gesture. Without donors like you, it would be impossible to carry on our life-saving work. Thank you very much!
